• About Me

Athena, a mathalete cannot survive without her macbook dubbed Fred by her mother. A chocolate addict and music fanatic. She listens to everything from Beck to Ingrid Michaelson to U2 to Sia to Jem, just to name a few. She will never be caught without at least 3 books handy. (My parents have started checking my suitcase before we go anywhere after I brought 15 books with me to Seattle.) So that's Athena in a teaspoon take it or leave it.

    Ahhh life.

Filed under Writting, Wordpress, Hosting, Layout, School, Music - Word Count: 604

Listening to: For the Girl - The Fratellis

Edit: Ok so the whole e-commerce thing is under construction but hopefully *crosses fingers* it will work and you will be able to purchase layouts and such!!

Ugh I am mentally beating my self over the head.. It’s been so long since I wrote a blog!

So you will notice a few changes around the site.. My life is starting to get a lot more straightened out so I can get back to the important things.. Yes, I did change the font in case you were scratching your head trying to figure out what’s different. I just think that this one looks better and the old one was bothering me.. Another change you might notice is I am fixing up the sidebar a little. It’s wider and I updated my about me page, it was seriously bugging me! I am also working on creating some more wordpress oriented content. Also I am looking for some great new plug ins.. I have a few in mind I just have to find again. I am still working on those themes but I’ve kinda hit a wall so I thought I would work on some other content.

Schools been pretty good lately.. I have started hanging out with KC and Phillip lately. It’s just so much easier to get along with guys than girls. Everything is so much more straight forward.

I have been in a very rock-ish mood lately. Not like emo heavy metal stuff but perky summery stuff. I am do ready for it to be summer, I have my window open today which is a first in months and I’m loving it!! I cannot believe how much I missed nice weather and how big of impact a little bit of sunshine can have on my mood. Back to music, I have been listening to Augustana, The Fratellis, U2 (I finally got the last of my U2 put on my laptop, thank gawd. I had no clue how I survived without it!) Mana, and Beck.

I have also been writing more lately thanks to a comment from McKenna. Here is the latest thing I wrote, I have been actually been working on it for a couple of weeks but I am finally satisfied with it enough to post it:

Once a man who was filled with wealth but also filled with woe, he decided to use his wealth to build a gilded home. The gilded home soon drew a crowd of golden girls, begging and pleading to be allowed in. As long as he kept the beauty in his world would never end. Once they came they soon discovered the home was not all they believed. As soon as they discovered this they all began to leave. The man watched as his world shattered in his hands so he turned the home into a cage. Over time the gilded cage faded into grey. The candles were extinguished and the music no longer played. As they watched their home disintegrate the golden girls also withered away. Accepting this as a grave carved in stone they began to live once more. They brought the joy back into the cold walls and the music echoed through the halls. The cage had changed back to the home and finally the golden girls were free to go.

Any feedback is welcome and greatly appreciated. Also any ideas for new content would be awesome.

Luv you all and really you don’t know how much your help your support has been for getting through all this.

    Scary movie?

Filed under Wordpress, School, Music, Other - Word Count: 815

Listening to: Hometown Glory - ADELE

Edit: So just incase any of you were hanging on the edges of your seat in suspense wondering what happened to my cell phone I fount it. Well actually my mom found it (thanks mommy!) it was in my bike bag of all weird places O.o Well I guess if your looking for something and you don’t know where it would be start with the place it’s least likely to be XP Your daily wisdom from Athena haha..

Hey peoples.. I know I haven’t wrote a blog in a while and I thought it was about time :)

So I just finished watching The Messengers, it was really good! It had it’s scary parts but the ending was really good. I would highly recommend it!! Even if you don’t normally watch scary movies this one was really good. Continuing my Kristen Stewart streak I watched Speak. Wow, that movie made me cry so many times. It was amazing, probably one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Kristen Stewart was amazing and I really think she can do a great job playing Bella in Twilight.

I also watched Disturbia, I thought it was ok. It had it’s scary moments but I dunno it was a bit shallow. Actually it was really shallow, The Messengers actually had a meaning (and a plot!).. I would still recommend Disturbia but more to people who like chick flicks. It had it’s scary moments but it really didn’t freak me out and I was afraid of Scooby Doo until 4th grade. (Pirate zombies and people who turn into cannibalistic cats?! That’s creepy even when it’s animated..)

So I have been doing ok. I only went to school 3 days this week but it was because I was exhausted instead of just not being able to be there. One of the side effects of Prozac is really vivid night mares. So I was waking up 5 or 6 times every night and it took me hours to fall asleep. The worst part is that I would be terrified but I couldn’t remember why.

I went back to 20mg from 30mg and it’s really helped. My doctor said that at first 30mg was a good push to get me back on track but after a little while it was too much. I haven’t had the dreams in days and it’s been getting a lot better. I told me dance teacher (at school) how I was feeling and she was really supportive.

Today I am going to sleep over at my friend Katherine’s house! I am really excited because I haven’t seen her in 2 months. Yesterday a friend of mine from school, Caroline, slept over. The one way I can explain the experience would be like this; Have you ever tried to make an ADHD puppy focus on one thing for more than 2 minutes? Yeah you get the picture.. It was almost relieved to think the way I normally do. (I am one of those people who can spend 2 hours thinking about time and the meaning of life. It’s very refreshing because now of days it’s rare to find someone who thinks like I do, especially someone my age..) Don’t get me wrong, it was really fun but it was exhausting, I fell asleep before midnight on Sat. Which is a first since I was 9 or 10 haha..

So I am working on the updates, they are getting there. I am trying to create themes that are more CSS based so they are easily used by multiple people and harder to edit and claim as your own because the CSS is more distinct. I still have to figure out how to make a way to preview the themes.

I have been listening to some good music lately.. I am really enjoying Yael Naim. I am pretty sure she is speaking hebrew in most of her songs which is really awesome because occasionally I can understand what she is saying. Her music is just so soothing and easy to listen to. I downloaded her whole album and I would recommend that you get it too. The whole thing is really good and I haven’t found one song I don’t like! She has so many different styles that you really need to listen to the whole album to get an idea of her sound.

I would also recommend ADELE. I am really enjoying her music as well. Her voice sounds a little like Amy Winehouse but her lyrics are more thoughtful.

Well ta ta for now. I really need to find my cell phone (Yes I’ve lost it again…)

Oh one last note, I really should thank you all for your supportive comments and emails. I really appreciate and it just reminded me how many people want me to feel better.

    Ok now actually TTFN! haha..

    XOXO

    ~Athena
